Responsible gambling
Our lottery exists to raise money for children, so protecting players and young people matters to us. Over 18s only.
Play safely: our promise, your tools, and where to get help
A lottery is still gambling. We want every player to enjoy supporting the club and to stay in control. Everything you need is on this page.
Age limit: 18+
The legal minimum age for society lotteries in Great Britain is 16 (Gambling Act 2005). Because tickets are sold online and by subscription, KBASC applies a stricter 18+ rule. Tickets may not be bought for, or given to, anyone under 18.
How we check age
Every application asks for your date of birth and a declaration. Before your first draw we may ask for proof of age (driving licence, passport or Young Scot / PASS card). Entries from under-18s are cancelled, all money is refunded and any prize is forfeited.
Low stakes by design
One draw a month, £5 per number, a maximum of 10 numbers (£50) per person per month. No instant games, no rollovers, no repeated play and no credit: payment is by standing order or bank transfer only.
Keep it fun: our golden rules
- Think of your entry as a donation to the club with a chance of a prize, not a way to make money.
- Set a monthly budget you can afford and stick to it.
- Never borrow, use credit or chase losses to play.
- Don't play when you're stressed, low, or after drinking.
- Balance gambling with other activities and talk about it openly with family.
- Keep lottery tickets and gambling away from children and young people.
Is gambling becoming a problem? Ask yourself
- Do you spend more money or time gambling than you meant to?
- Have you tried to cut down and found it hard?
- Do you gamble to escape worries, boredom or low mood?
- Have you borrowed money, sold things or missed bills because of gambling?
- Have family or friends worried about your gambling, or have you hidden it from them?
- Do you feel restless, guilty or irritable about gambling?
If you answered yes to any of these, please talk to someone. Free, confidential support is available 24 hours a day on 0808 8020 133. You can also try GamCare's online self-assessment at gamcare.org.uk.
Your safer play tools
Set a spend limit. Choose fewer numbers (1 to 10) when you join, or email us at any time to reduce them. Reductions apply from the next draw.
Take a break. Pause your entry for 1, 3 or 6 months. We will not contact you about the lottery during a break.
Self-exclude. Ask to be excluded for a minimum of 6 months (or permanently). We cancel your numbers, stop all payments being taken into the lottery, remove you from lottery mailings, and will refuse any new application from you during the exclusion. Exclusion cannot be reversed early.
Cancel any time. Cancel your standing order with your bank and tell us. No questions, no penalty.
Email [email protected] with the subject "Safer play request". We act within 2 working days.
Block gambling on your devices and cards. Most UK banks let you switch on a gambling block in their app. Free and low-cost blocking tools include GAMSTOP (free self-exclusion from all GB-licensed online gambling sites and apps), BetBlocker (free) and Gamban.
